How do I know which Amazing India trip is for me?
You will notice the obvious price differential. This alone may very simply help you decide. The Revive Retreat is aimed for an active nature loving, dare I say seasoned traveller, whereas the Relax Retreat is pitched to meet the needs of you who enjoys comfort, rest and respite.

India Revive at the Pyramid is aimed for you of reasonable fitness levels with the intention of enjoying at least a moderately active holiday. The Pyramind is situated 150 metres up a hillside slope. You will likely walk down and up this once or twice per day, so will need to be fit enough to enjoy this. It is perched above the more quiet side of Laxman Jhula town overlooking the mellow Ganga rapids. It is a very peaceful place. Indeed it is a pleasant place to rest, backing on to the forest that reaches into the hills. Accommodation is in a newly built guesthouse. It would not be fair to project Western star ratings upon it. These are a very comfortable and pleasant grounds with beautiful surroundings. It is functional rather than fancy and in true India style, certainly not fussy.

The India Relax at Holy River Hotel is aimed for you who enjoy creature comforts and like to be accommodated in 4 star luxury. From here you can venture out through the trafficless small roads and alleys and enjoy the culture of India at your own pace. India is very vibrant and stirring in many ways. It is most wonderful, and you will have the comfort of knowing that as soon as you step back through the gates of Holy River, you will be cradled by the calm atmosphere, with swimming pool, tasteful organic cafe and health spa treatment rooms there to soothe you. Indeed you may choose to be well entertained for days on end without much need to venture outside at all.

From Feb 25th to 28th there will be a 3 night stay over safari at Corbett Tiger reserve arranged. You can tag this on after the Relax Retreat or before the Revive Retreat. This will be a very very comfortable camping adventure with morning, evening and night-time jeep and boat safaris. Details for this are being arranged and will break forwarded to you very soon. If desired it can be added on to your holiday.

Thank you!
A most extraordinary month in Northern India... It has been colourful, fragrant, wild and wonderfilled. We have soared to the heights of the Himalayan hills and dived deep beneath the cool, soothing, holy and healing glacial waters of the Mother Ganga river. We have treaded lightly upon the foothills of the Himalaya earth, stretched lively on Yoga mats, at other times been as still as the mountain- so it appears to be. We have sung our hearts out with hundreds/thousands of fellow Yogis in unison and harmony at sheer celebration of life and our shared being-ness. In that we have cried tears of sorrow, many many more tears of joy and bliss our spirits together aflame. We have sat at the feet of great masters of the ancient teachings of Yoga, been lifted by their wisdom, our resistance to Peace softened in the space of their Love. We have come to quietness, unheard of; it is the silence that resists neither sound nor thought.. We have experienced blessings and kindness of spirit beyond anything we could possibly imagine. We have been inspired by the greatness of these resilient and formidable Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan people, many of whom live in such difficult circumstances with tremendous dignity and integrity. We have been deeply 'in this world' yet we have experienced happenings so transcendant that the arising has felt to be 'not of this world’….

FAQ

• FLIGHT prices vary, book sooner rather than later. We recommend that you fly to New Delhi Airport, followed by domestic flight to Dehradun Airport. Your internal arrival to Dehradun should be before 18.00 on retreat arrival day. We recommend:
- fly Friday evening from London to New Delhi, arrive Saturday AM
- leave 4 hours at least in between flights
- domestic flight New Delhi (DEL) to Dehradun (DED), arriving before 6pm
- for your return flights, transfer from Rishikesh to Dehradun Airport is included if travelling between the hours of 7am-6pm on retreat departure day

Skyscanner or Kiwi Flights have a great search tool for the best flights to suit you.

• eVisa Link: http://evisaindia.org.in/apply/info1.php

• VACCINES There is such differing advice and experiences that we have to say please err on the side of caution and cover yourself by getting the necessary vaccines for India. Be sure that your travel insurance is up to date also. If this is your first time traveling to the eastern world, the comfort of knowing you've taken due precautions will be very reassuring.

• YOGA MATS - these will be provided at the Pyramid Guest House / Holy River Hotel for you

• CLOTHES - always having a scarf/wrap will help to keep you warm and shoulders covered, especially but limited to visiting temples. By mid-march the daytime temperature is very warm. Evening time can be cool as the wind blows off the Himalaya from the east. It is adviseable to dress respectfully - short shorts are not advisable!

• STURDY FOOTWEAR will be required for walks. If you feel more comfortable wearing a full-length ankle boot then do opt for that, though not essential. Sandals for during the day, though do travel light as there may be things you wish to buy in Rishikesh.

• TWO CHOICES OF RETREAT - WHICH DO I CHOOSE? You will notice the obvious price differential. This alone may very simply help you decide. Perhaps certain dates are better suited to your schedule. The Revive Retreat is essentially a less expensive accommodation in Indian guest-house style. It operates on a karma yoga basis - rooms are not cleaned daily and it is your responsibility to keep your environment as tidy as you wish. The Relax Retreat is pitched to meet the needs of you who enjoys comfort, rest and respite: pristine en-suite bathrooms and a daily cleaning service. Both retreats are experiences that you will never forget.

"For the Joy of it"
Kenneth has now opened up his wonderful home to share. The “Bright Wild Cottage” is situated in the furthest reaches of the mountainous wilderness of Connemara, west of Ireland. He will be holding regular retreats there and is delighted to welcome you to share in his life, in what for him is such an astoundingly beautiful, mystical and natural part of the world.

We could call it a Yoga retreat, although why create expectations and limit it by doing so. Yes, Yoga Beyond Yoga, many have said, offers more or something distinctly different to the traditional or typical Yoga practices being taught. Each morning at a reasonable hour, we will enjoy an extended Yoga practice. The nature of this practice will be according to your needs and readiness to enjoy the openness that is Yoga. Classes at the cottage will be small (up to 3 Yogis at a time) so your individual needs can be addressed.
There may or may not be an evening Yoga session. It will depend on the activities of the day. There are so many Wonder-filled places to be here and Joyous things to do. To rush and hurry them along so as to be back in time to -only then- relax at Yoga is madness of the highest order, I would suggest;-) How’s about remaining relaxed and at ease all the time. I watch the animals that I spend much time with(the cat, 3 dogs, many donkeys, ponies, sheep and cows ) and in watching I see that they do not do anything in particular to relax. It is simply the nature of their being and so “I Am” they tell me; they do;-). And so was the profound reality that the energy of wild nature brought to my Awareness in the dry jungle of west India 21 years back and so it remains.Days by the cottage are spent enjoying a relaxed ramble along the rocky shore or wandering the bog/moorland immediately behind the cottage. It is only a short drive away to where we trek the mountains of Connemara and walk the glorious shoreline of pristine soft sandy beaches. After this, evenings by the fire in “Ken’s Den” bring welcome warmth, comfort, rest and relaxation. So deeply soothing it is, one can spend hours there oblivious to worldly cares mesmerised by the leap of the flames, soothed by the scent of the turf.

We could call it a “Detox” Retreat but again, why limit it? The nourishment you will receive will be naturally light and very cleansing in nature. Early morning tea ceremonies will have a deep and energetic effect; stimulating the body’s natural elimination faculties, your mid-morning Juice breakfast enhancing this. Afternoon nutrition will be provided by fiercely healthy smoothies and/or salads at the cottage or out and about. Evenings the meals will be more in the line of fresh healthy soups (cooked or raw), delicious vegetarian curries or stews-often exotic; Thai, Indian, Turkish- Delightful
I do warrant caution if one tends to focus alot upon or become overly concerned about detoxing or removing some part of ourselves or our life experience . The notion that there is something wrong with “me” and the world around “me” is both a self-fulfilling prophesy and is also self-perpetuating. Rather than focusing on changing who we are or what we have become, at “Bright Wild Cottage”, we enjoy a much more peaceful, Free stance. In line with all of the epitimy (Beyond ) teachings of Tao, Zen and Yoga Vedanta; the emphasis remains upon realising the Natural State of Aware Presence that is the essence of our and All Being. Do you wish to awaken to the Truth that there is no effort whatsoever required in realising this contented, peaceful state of Aware Presence? Do you???
A day spent on retreat at “Bright Wild Cottage” may look similar to this:

7am Tea Ceremony (including Medicatation*/ chanting possibly)
8am Yoga and Relaxation
Rest and relax at cottage or nearby/Silent Rest, possibly feeding the donkeys with leftover juice pulp
12noon Harvesting fresh seaweed from ocean (pending tides)
1pm Smoothie or Salad
1:30 Shoreline trek to “The Watcher’s House”
4pm Smoothie or Salad
5pm Relaxation with Yoga, “Spirit Circle” and/or “Medicatation”
8:30 Seaweed Foot Baths with Foot Massage/Holistic Massage

Late Evening, we melt by the fire...

*Note “Medicitation” is somewhat like Meditation, yet without having to suffer uncomfortable body positions, attitudes of seriousness, internal battles, pious aspirations or long faces.

Bookings can be made by emailing RelaxRelaxRelax@yahoo.com. There is no wifi here at the cottage so please do not expect an immediate email response. If something is pressing and you need confirmation, please call on the phone. I will be happy to chat The retreat venue is the cottage itself so places are few. If you are keen I would suggest that you book as soon as the whim takes you ;-) “For the Joy of it” I look forward to seeing you soon.
